What to see

El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is situated in a strategic place, which stands out for its beautiful coast line and its tranquillity. In the Marina Alta region (almost at the half-way between the cities of Valencia and Alicante), located on the top of a small hill, crowned by the church, which draws a characteristic silhouette of the urban core to several kilometres distance.

Nearly 4.100 inhabitants live in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell and throughout its municipal term (12,55 km2). The centre of the village is located a few kilometers distance to the Mediterranean Sea by what retains its substance; the municipal market, the Town Hall and the church are grouped in the center.

 

The village is sheltered by Puig Llorença and to the south, collapses formed impressive formations, coves and cliffs in its fall to the sea. To the north, the village opens to countryside, with the Montgó sighting closely.

The village allows residents and visitors enjoy a peaceful daily life, that nevertheless enjoys permanent activities, a rich cultural, associative and festive life, which is increasing with the arrival of warm weather. In reality the mild temperatures determine the annual calendar, although if a wind named the Llebeig, is part of characteristic of the municipality, a fresh air which, especially in summer, is very well received. Hence saying "al Poble Nou de Benitatxell, frescoreta i moscatell", in honour to this wind and the indigenous cultivation of Muscat grape.
