A new ordinance on citizen coexistence for Benitatxell will regulate and sanction uncontrolled dumping, dog excrement and the degradation of the coves

  • The document compiles numerous rules of coexistence, as well as the possible monetary sanctions that may be applied.

El Poble Nou de Benitatxell’s Council wants to bring order to the day to day problems and achieve a better coexistence between citizens. To this end, the government team (Més Benitatxell) brought to the last plenary session the proposal of a new ordinance of citizen coexistence, which was approved unanimously with the seven votes of the Més Benitatxell group and the two assistants from the opposition, from the REDcv group.

In this ordinance there is a compilation of rules of coexistence in different blocks, as well as the possible monetary sanctions that may be applied in some cases if they are not fulfilled.

As the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, pointed out, the ordinance regulates all kinds of aspects, especially those which generate the most complaints or nuisances, such as animal excrement on the public streets; the lack of cleanliness of private plots, which generates problems of unhealthiness; the uncontrolled dumping of household goods and building materials, or the depositing of rubbish bags in unsuitable places, such as in rubbish bins instead of in containers.

The mayor also highlighted the problems caused by overcrowded tourism, such as the disturbance of rest due to noise pollution, especially in the summer months, when many complaints are received due to private parties at night or building work at unpermitted hours, or the graffiti and dumping of rubbish and household items in the coves and beaches, especially in the parking area of the Moraig cove and in the Testos cove itself, an area which is difficult to access via a ravine and where some uncivic visitors leave coolers, umbrellas, pillows, frying pans and all kinds of rubbish.

Some of the aspects that the ordinance also regulates are the degradation of spaces through the installation of banners, posters or leaflets in inappropriate places or unauthorised street vending, among others.

In a following point, the delegation to SUMA of the management and collection of the sanctions that are imposed within the framework of the new ordinance of citizen coexistence was also approved.
