Mones

The monas are indisputable easter snack. Both, children and adults, eat this typical sweet on Easter days. The ingredients of monas are, like burnt bread, flour, sugar, water, egg, oil, lemon and yeast. After fermentation, traditionally cooked in wood-fired oven, on the eve of Easter. An anecdote of monas, tend to adapt its size to the age of the eater. Little children have monas of smaller size and grows over the years. It is also custom that children put an egg to mona and when they go to eat it, singing “Ací em pica, ací em cou, ací menge la mona i em trenque l’ou", by breaking the egg.
