Mirador del Poble offers a privileged panoramic view of the landscape surrounding El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. Discover this place

The Mirador del Poble, located on the road leading up towards Puig Llorença, offers one of the best viewpoints for understanding the unique setting of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell between the inland landscapes of the Marina Alta and the Mediterranean.

From here, the town appears in the foreground with its characteristic stepped, almost pyramidal silhouette, crowned by the bell tower of the Church of Santa María Magdalena, one of the most recognisable features of Benitatxell’s townscape.

The town and its landscape

The panorama reveals how the historic centre occupies an elevated position within a traditionally agricultural landscape, surrounded by fields, old cultivation terraces and residential areas.

Beyond the town stretches much of the Marina Alta, including the neighbouring municipalities of Xàbia and Teulada, across a landscape of valleys, gentle elevations and impressive mountain ranges.

From the mountains to the Mediterranean

To the south, some of the most distinctive landmarks of the Alicante landscape can be seen, including the Serra de Bèrnia, Serra d’Oltà and Penyal d’Ifac, whose unmistakable silhouette rises beside the coast.

To the north, on days with good visibility, the eye can follow the Valencian coastline towards the Gulf of Valencia, offering an exceptionally broad perspective over the coast.

Between two Mediterranean horizons

One of the most distinctive features of the Mirador del Poble is the sensation of standing between two Mediterranean horizons. The elevated position of Puig Llorença and the configuration of the Serra de la Llorença allow the sea to be perceived in different directions, with the town of Benitatxell and the Marina Alta landscape occupying the space between them.

This combination makes the viewpoint an excellent place from which to interpret the municipality’s geography: the town in the foreground, the mountains and valleys of the region around it and the Mediterranean on the horizon.

The Mirador del Poble therefore offers a different perspective from Benitatxell’s great coastal viewpoints. Here, the main attraction is not only the sea, but El Poble Nou de Benitatxell itself and its relationship with the surrounding landscape, an image that encapsulates the municipality’s unique position between mountains, valleys and coast.
