Testos Viewpoint

The Mirador dels Testos is one of the great natural balconies overlooking the coastline of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. From its elevated position, it offers an extensive view over Cala dels Testos, Morro Falquí and the towering cliffs that characterise this stretch of coast.

The panorama also encompasses the nearby Cala del Moraig, providing a privileged perspective over two of the municipality’s most emblematic coves.

Overlooking Cala dels Testos

Below the viewpoint lies Cala dels Testos, a small unspoilt cove located at the mouth of the Barranc de l’Infern ravine. Enclosed by towering rock walls and accessible only on foot or by sea, it preserves one of the most rugged and natural landscapes on the Benitatxell coastline.

From above, visitors can clearly see how the ravine descends between the cliffs until it meets the Mediterranean, forming the small inlet occupied by the cove.

Beneath Morro Falquí

One of the defining features of the panorama is Morro Falquí, the imposing rocky promontory that rises beside Cala dels Testos and dominates this section of the coastline.

Its dramatic verticality reveals the extraordinary configuration of the Benitatxell coast, where the mountains approach the Mediterranean before ending abruptly in towering rock faces.

The contrast between the pale cliffs, Mediterranean vegetation and the different shades of blue in the sea creates one of the most distinctive images of this landscape.

A protected coastline

The landscape visible from the viewpoint forms part of the Penya-segats de la Marina, a protected natural area included in the Natura 2000 Network as both a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA).

The cliffs support plant communities and wildlife adapted to particularly demanding conditions, while beneath the water lie sea caves, rocky seabeds and valuable underwater ecosystems.

Discovering Cala dels Testos

The panorama from the viewpoint provides an excellent overview of the landscape that can then be explored along the Ruta dels Testos.

The route descends through the Barranc de l’Infern to the cove and is considered difficult, with three sections equipped with ropes on the final descent. Throughout the route, Morro Falquí and the surrounding cliffs dominate the landscape.

The Mirador dels Testos therefore offers one of the best perspectives for understanding this section of the Benitatxell coastline: the Barranc de l’Infern descending towards the sea, the small Cala dels Testos sheltered by the cliffs and Morro Falquí rising above the Mediterranean.
